There's a Dog in the Lap!!!

Yup, that's right, there was a dog at the library yesterday, and not just any dog, a very small, high under the desk kind of dog. Her name was Elle, and from what I learned from her owner, she is a four year old Yorkie, who is nothing but a diva at home. Being no bigger then your hand, you can imagine how many people thought she was a toy in our hand.

Wake (Wake Series, Book 1)As for other news, we have also received the new book series, 'WAKE', but Lisa McMann. As well as her second book in the series.

The Scholastic Book Fair is in full swing with a lot of great authors, not just for kids either. There are Young Adult novels there two, including 'Ruined', 'Fairest', and 'Sent'. So for all you teens in our area, come on down and pick up some of these books titles to read. Not to mention if you come by you might see a little dog in someones lap.

Dark Divine

The Dark DivineThe new book by Bree Despain is soon on it's way, and with so much hype in it, I thought it would be cool to get a look at the book trailer for the first book, 'The Dark Divine.'

If you haven't read the story it is one worth reading. The story deals with Grace Divine, and her seemingly perfect family. But there is one thing no one touches on and that is the protical son that has suddenly come back into their lives. Daniel. He is lost, and in all respects someone to be feared. But Grace sees something about him that no one else does. He still has a good heart, but how long will that heart last with her brother Jude trying to stop her from having any contact with Daniel? What will Daniel do to maintain his humanity?

Her new book will be coming out December of this year, the title of which is, The Lost Saint.

Graphic Novels Section

Thanks to a lot of generous donations from one of our crazy librarians, we have just implemented a new full shelf section dedicated to nothing but Graphic Novels, Manga, and the like. With new volumes including Tsubasa, Hana-Kimi, Otomen, and several others we are hoping to complete it with a full collection of popular manga artists and authors.

Want to Volunteer

Boy do I have news for all of you guys out there. Would you believe it if I told you the Marlin Public Library is going to be having a field trip and they need help?! Well if not then listen up. The Marlin Public Library is in the works to provide a Summer Reading Program Field Trip to Waco's Mammoth Park. It will include a guided tour, and lunch at Waco Park. If that isn't enough they need volunteer to help with all the toddlers and kids, so if you are at least 16 years old, are good with kids, and want to get out this summer, then look no further. You will get a free lunch, and get into Waco's Mammoth Park for F.R.E.E. Now this is only in the works right now, but from what I'm gathering it's definitely going to happen.

Vampire Knight, Volume 1As for other news, the library has just instituted a new section in the library, the Graphic Novel section for Young Adults. A lot of people have been helping, donating old manga and stuff like that, including Batman comics, and Superman. Some of their manga include, Mars, Fruits Basket (of course), and just recently Vampire Knight. If you are interested come by and check it out.

On the Seventh Day, There was a Choice...

Lord Sunday (The Keys To The Kingdom)If you don't know what in the world that title means, well I'm about to tell. It's finally here, the final book in the Key's of the Kingdom Series by Garth Nix called, 'Lord Sunday'. If you haven't read any of this series I seriously recommend it. With it's ancient mysteries, and cross roads it leads to a great climax in this epic book series.

The library is now completing this series as well as several others including the City of Glass series.

There is also much talk about the finally getting a manga section in the teens area. Yes, seriously, all manga, including a fully donated series that some if not all of us know about, Fruits Basket. Yup, in all truth, the FULL SERIES! If you haven't ever seen this series, then come by it's hilarious.

Fruits Basket, Volume 1 (Fruits Basket (Prebound))Fruits Basket, Volume 2 (Fruits Basket (Prebound))Fruits Basket, Vol. 3Fruits Basket, Volume 4 [FRUITS BASKET V04]

Linger There are several other things in the works and many other books that have been brought into the YA section of the library, including one book that everyone is going to drop a jaw at, the second book in the new series by Maggie Stiefvater, if you don't know, then here's a picture of it. (Don't ask me how they got it three months early.)

 Until next time...

The Crescendo

It's getting closer, as of April the 11th the book cover of Crescendo has come out. The book written by Becca Fitzpatrick is the second in the Hush series. The book is due out November 16th 2010 and a lot of people are dying to read it. If you don't know what the synopsis of the story is. Here it is:

Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.

The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

So there you have it. Until next time...
